The Kehillah of Lakewood Ranch (KLWR) began as a small Havurah group of like-minded Conservative Jews and friends interested in Jewish prayer, learning, studying, socializing and sharing in Jewish communal experiences.  Having no Conservative Jewish place of worship located directly in Lakewood Ranch, the group felt it was the right time and place to build upon and serve the growing Jewish population within the Lakewood Ranch community, located in Manatee County, FL.

In April 2014 by-laws were created and Officers and a Board of Directors were elected.  Articles of Incorporation were filed and in May 2014 the Kehillah of Lakewood Ranch was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit religious organization. A place was obtained at the Windsor of Lakewood Ranch to conduct: Friday night, Saturday morning and Holiday services. Our services are currently led by our lay leadership. In March 2015 the Kehillah of Lakewood Ranch became affiliated with The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ).

The Kehillah of Lakewood Ranch continues to grow and serve our Conservative Jewish community through prayer, study, socialization and community social action activities.

What is a Kehillah?

A Kehillah is a sacred community. It is a group formed by Jews who have joined together to seek religious, spiritual and social enrichment and to:

  • Explore and live out our understanding of Jewishness.

  • Offer and receive support.

  • Share life cycle joys, celebrations and sorrow.

  • Learn, socialize and grow together.

  • Explore the meaning of our lives and the wisdom of our ancestors.

‚ÄčOur Mission

Kehillah of Lakewood Ranch (KLWR) is a sacred community committed to a dynamic Judaism that is learned and passionate, authentic and pluralistic, joyful, egalitarian and inclusive.

KLWR creates conditions for a powerful and vibrant Jewish life that empowers Jews in our community to seek the presence of God, to seek meaning and purpose in Torah and mitzvot, to fully engage with Israel, and to be inspired by Judaism to improve our members and the community.
